Which Mitsubishi Model Is Right for You?
One of the great things about the Mitsubishi lineup these days is that it’s been simplified and streamlined to offer only the best options for a wide range of drivers. This means you don’t have to worry about trying to keep track of a dozen different vehicles or anything like that, but you still have enough models to choose from that determining which one perfectly meets your needs can take some work. As your Mitsubishi dealership in Edmonton, we’re always happy to show you everything the Mitsubishi lineup has to offer to ensure you drive away in a vehicle that you’ll love for many years to come. To help you get started, let’s take a look at what’s available right now in this impressive selection.
2023 Mitsubishi Mirage
To kick things off, we have the Mirage, a subcompact hatchback that’s the perfect option if you’re looking for something small for getting around the city. While crossovers and SUVs have certainly grown to dominate the car market, a versatile hatchback like this is a terrific choice for a lot of drivers. This is certainly a small vehicle, so if you need something for a growing family, then you’ll want to look elsewhere (consider the Outlander further down), but it’s perfect for singles and couples. You still get seating for up to five passengers inside this car, and the hatchback design makes it easy to access the 1,331 L of total cargo volume within the Mirage.
Due to its small design, this little hatchback is incredibly manoeuvrable and practical, with a turning radius of just 4.6 metres, making it the perfect choice for living in the city. On top of that, this is one of the most economical vehicles on the market thanks to a low starting price and a rated fuel economy of 6.6 L/100 km in the city and 5.6 L/100 km on the highway. Despite its modest size, you can still get an available 18 cm infotainment display inside the Mirage, along with FAST-Key Keyless Entry and Push Button Start to let you hit the road quickly.
2023 Mitsubishi RVR
If you’re looking for something a bit larger without going overboard, then the Mitsubishi RVR is a great choice with a lot to offer. This is a subcompact crossover SUV, which means you get the full functionality and design of an SUV but in a more manageable package. Whereas the Mirage is powered by a 78 hp engine, you have two powertrains available for the RVR, starting with a 2.0L I-4 engine that provides 148 hp. If you want even sportier performance, there’s an available 2.4L I-4 engine that delivers 168 hp. The standard engine comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the available engine features a six-speed automatic instead.
While a bit larger than the Mirage, the RVR is still incredibly efficient and is rated for 9.7 L/100 km in the city and 7.8 L/100 km on the highway. You get 614 L of cargo volume in the trunk of the RVR, which is easy to access thanks to its crossover design, and just over 1,400 L of total cargo volume with the rear seats folded down. The RVR comes with a 20 cm infotainment display standard, and an available six-way power driver’s seat and leather-appointed seating can make driving the RVR incredibly enjoyable.
2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
So far, we’ve been looking at subcompact options that are perfect for downsized lifestyles, but the rest of the Mitsubishi lineup consists of fantastic compact crossover models. These start with the Eclipse Cross, which is perfect if you like to keep things simple while getting a fantastic vehicle. There’s one engine available here (the RVR is the only 2023 Mitsubishi model offered with more than one engine to choose from): a turbocharged 1.5L with 152 hp that’s paired with a CVT for easy driving. The Eclipse Cross is rated for 9.6 L/100 km in the city and 8.9 L/100 km on the highway—not as efficient as the previous two, but still impressive.
One thing that sets this model apart from the first two we looked at is that it can handle up to 907 kg of towing, whereas the Mirage and RVR are not designed for towing. Despite it being a larger vehicle, the Eclipse Cross only has a bit more cargo space inside, with 663 L of cargo volume in the rear area and 1,419 L of total cargo space for you to take advantage of. You’ll find a 20 cm infotainment display inside this model, much like the RVR, along with an available power panoramic sunroof and eight-speaker sound system to ensure you look forward to every chance to get behind the wheel.
2023 Mitsubishi Outlander
Next up, we have the Mitsubishi Outlander, which is also a compact crossover model like the Eclipse Cross, but there are some significant differences between them. For starters, the Outlander is powered by a 2.5L I-4 engine that delivers 181 hp for a driving experience that you’ll find quite rewarding. The Outlander is rated for 9.7 L/100 km in the city and 7.9 L/100 km on the highway, making it even more economical than the Eclipse Cross when it comes to long-distance travel.
Arguably the most notable difference between the Outlander and the previous model is that this SUV has three rows of seating for up to seven passengers, rather than two rows like the Eclipse Cross. This makes the Outlander a fantastic choice if you prefer a compact model and have a growing family since there’s plenty of room inside for kids. You also get quite a lot of space for anything you need to bring with you in the Outlander: 308 L of rear cargo volume, 866 L of cargo space behind the second row, and 1,822 L of total cargo volume behind the front seats. It’s easy to load the people and cargo you need into the Outlander and then get on the road.
2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
If you’re interested in getting a taste of what an electric vehicle (EV) can offer, then a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) like the Outlander PHEV is a great choice. This is a compact crossover like the standard Outlander, but it’s powered by a 2.4L I-4 engine paired with a 20 kWh battery and two electric motors, giving it 248 hp and fantastic overall performance. Thanks to its plug-in hybrid design, this model has an EV Mode that lets you drive using only the battery for zero fuel consumption and emissions, along with an estimated 3.6 Le/100 km of combined fuel efficiency. Plus, with Super All-Wheel Control, you can remain in total command of the Outlander PHEV even in the roughest winter weather.
